Orange Division

Welcome to the 2011-2012 Season

Gentlemen,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all players including those new players to the Orange Division.

I would like to take a moment to introduce myself and my team. This is my first year as convenor after a couple as assistant convenor. Over the last couple of years I have been fortunate to learn from Legendary Convenor Ken Warren. As many know Ken has moved to White Division after many years in Orange, most of them as convenor. We are lucky to have had Ken as convenor in our division for many years and will miss him. Thank you for your many years as convenor. While Ken is no longer a convenor he is still very much involved as Director of Hockey (my boss). We wish him well. My co-convenor/assistant convenor is John Rivard. John is a veteran of the BOHC and orange division and his experience has been and will be an asset to our division. Our pool convenor, Andre Leclerc needs no introduction. A true BOHC Legend he is known by most all throughout every division. We are extremely fortunate to have Andre agree to assist us with the pool and with running the division. Unfortunately an injury has prevented him from playing the last year or so but we hope one day he will be able to return. Until that time he is free to ask any Orange player if they are a backchecker or perhaps not…..

We welcome back only one returning captain, Steady Steve Taylor. Joining him are Rick Vascotto (Team 12), Pat Cocklin (Team 13), Mike Masur (Team 14), Mark Thompson (Team 15) and Andy Grougrou (Team 16 aka The Sandbaggers). Thank you to these fellas and their assistants for stepping forward and agreeing to be captains. It is the captains that run the divisions and make the BOHC the great organization that it is.

The revised schedule is now posted. As noted earlier, I believe we are now down to only one Skyway date and that is on the Super Bowl to keep the game in the morning to avoid a conflict with the big game.

A reminder to those new and old to the league and division. Having fun, enjoying the game and getting some exercise is the goal of the BOHC. Winning is secondary. Please keep sportsmanship a top priority. Please have respect for your fellow players and the referees. I personally feel the referees in our league are some of the best around. One thing that sets them apart from other men’s leagues is they really care. They may not always get the call right but they try their very best to and they care. Please give them the respect they deserve. We will not tolerate any abuse of officials under any circumstance.
