Orange Division

FEBRUARY UPDATE

Posted February 01 2011 by Orange Convenor

No, fellow Orange Division guys…you’re eyes are not playing tricks on you…..as promised, just before New Years, this would be an update of what’s been going on, both in the Orange Division, and the BOHC, for the month of January, and I will do my best to keep it brief, I promise.

First and foremost, I would like to wish speedy recoveries to two Orange Division players that went down with season ending injuries in January, both of which were very strange, accidental, and just plain bad luck.  First of all, Rob Patterson ( # 2 Teal), collided at centre ice with a fellow team mate, ( who, for obvious reasons, shall remain nameless ), Wed Jan 5th, went down pretty hard, and ended up tearing a bicep muscle. Rob went for surgery less than a week later, and to my knowledge is recovering nicely. On January 16th, Mike Sanscartier ( # 16 White ) collided with an opponent, jammed his hand, and on the next face off he took, the pain was severe enough for him to call it a night, and ended up breaking a bone in his hand.  Mike had surgery on January 19th, and all went well, although he did state that the pain he had in his hand was worse following surgery.  For those new players that are not aware, when players are forced to quit in the middle of the year, be it injury, relocating, or whatever, a refund is given based on the remaining number of games that will be missed.

As you are all aware by now, some further inter divisional moves were made January 12th, in an ongoing attempt to create parity in our division.  We do not like doing this exercise more than once a year, but it was painfully obvious that our first rendezvous, in November didn’t work out the way we had planned. There will be no more moves, as the teams seems to be closer in talent ( although the White Hares are still stumbling a bit), and games are now a bit tighter and more competitive than before.

Looking ahead to February, our first ” official ” Hockey Night in Canada day is Saturday February 19th. This night, if all goes well, should be a no charge evening for all of the Orange Division teams, as a result of selling the required 5 book minimum, (for the Burlington Invitational Tournament, at the end of February), to achieve 5 pitchers of your favorite beer, along with food ( unknown what is on the menu at this point ).  When I reviewed our schedule for the remainder of the year, there was no other night that fit like this one does, to be able to take advantage of the reward for selling our minimum 5 books per team…  So, I have already contacted Rick Fox , who is responsible for arranging staff to cook/barkeep, and even though Feb 19th is before the Burlington Tournament, he has made the necessary arrangements to look after us.  So, boys, some of you talked the talk”, it’s time to “walk the walk”....We, as a division MUST SELL these books of tickets and have the money in Ricks hands by Wed February 17th,which gives us lots of time… Green,Teal and Gold have already committed to selling their minimum, now it’s White, Black, and Red that must match their enthusiasm.

That’s all I have for the moment guys….will ( try and ) continue to update on a monthly basis…thus eliminating the novels that I am required to write…..

Heads up, sticks down boys…
