Gentlemen:

Find your equipment!! That is if, like me, you haven’t skated or played hockey since April. Got all the parts? If you played summer hockey, please refresh your equipment. In either case, start the training because our new hockey season starts Oct.2.

To all returning Grey Div. players, welcome back. To players new to the division, glad you’re here. You will all find the same spirit of friendship and competition that continues to be the hallmark of Oldtimers hockey.

As you ready your equipment for the season (even to make sure that all the parts are there), please check to make sure it is in reasonable shape. The helmet, in particular, should be current within the last five years to ensure that it provides the best in protection to minimize concussion injuries. The outer shell may look OK, but the liner becomes hard and unforgiving due to sweat and heat. New concussion-minimizing helmets are currently being marketed at about $200!

Good News:

Your schedule is posted and you may have been sent a copy by your Captain. However, because of the availability of other ice, we will no longer be playing games at Skyway. You might also note the occasional game at Central and Nelson. (FYI: Gold Div. has some games at Mountainside.)

Our Stag night is Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Hector’s, starting at 7:00 pm. Come on out, get your sweaters and socks, have that all-important first beverage and meet your new teammates. This promises to be a very interesting year.
