Greetings:
Just a quick note about a couple of new issues:
1. The game schedule has changed effective Jan. 2, 2012. You will now find that all Grey Div. games are back to back to back allowing you to see all of the competition. This adjustment is reflected in both the master game schedule and in the printable / downloadable specific team schedules. Your review of your team’s schedule will also show possible changes in dates and locations. Please make sure that you update all your calendars according, so as not to leave your team stranded!
2. The tickets for the upcoming Invitational Tournament have been given to your Captain. The tickets are a very reasonable $2 each or 3 for $5. The results will help to support a local charity and to defray hockey-related ice costs, making this a very important fund-raising event. As an incentive, the team that sells the most books (beyond the assigned 10) will receive a free pub night. If the Division sells all of the books, or more, then the Division gets a pub night. Last year one team received the pub night and as a Division, we collectively came close to a sellout but missed out on the celebration. I know that as a group, we can easily sell (or buy) all of the tickets to collect the pub night. Due date for the receipts is Feb. 10. The Tournament is Feb. 22 - 26, 2012. We will be seeking both draw prizes and volunteers to assist with the activities. Your Captain will canvass the team in due course.
3. A committee has been struck to begin planning for the year-end Awards Night. A date will likely be mid to late March 2012. Details will be passed on as they become available. It will be a fun time!!
4. As a reminder from my last blog, please watch the beverage intake at this, and any, time of year. RIDE will be watching; your teammates expect you on the ice, and your family wants you home to celebrate the season. All excellent reasons to not drink and drive.
Enjoy the spirit of the Season with family and friends. Have a fantastic New Year! But remember, you are still in training for the playoffs. I’ll see you next year.
