The 2009 AWARDS NIGHT was held at HECTORS on March 26th
A full house of divisional members enjoyed a few pops and laughs
The Teal Titans received pen and pencil sets in recognition of winning the regular season title.
The captains created their own team award(s).
There was a tribute to the masked marvels, our division’s goaltenders, with the captains presenting them with personalized goalie masks.
There was a recognition of Shirley Mlynek’s contribution by way of video taping.
2009 Divisional Awards
Lone Ranger Award
- player leading his team into opposition zone most often with teammates following
- won by Corey Trodd
The Wolfman
- player whose personality changes when on the ice
- won by George Watkinson
The Human Zamboni
- able to clean more ice with a single slide (fall)
- joint winners were Gary Day and Mark Krausewitz
El Diablo
- makes the ice melt with his skating speed
- won by John Armstrong
Mr. Replay
- player likely to relive the game in the change room or Hectors
- won by Dave Reurink and award renamed Reurink Replay
- first winner of Reurink Replay was Brad Gould
The Executioner
- the shut-down defenseman who most often kills the offensive threat
- won by Randy Mlynek
Mr. Off-Colour
- most likely to tell raunchy jokes
- won by Doug Weeks
Mr. Cyclops
- player with a singular focus sometimes to the detriment of his teammates
- won by Steve Featherstone
Maple Leaf Forever
- member who will not give up hope and proud of it
- won by Bill Leithhead
Mr. Metrosexual
- player exhibiting the flare and confident in his sexuality
- won by Bert Lavigne
