March 2010 Season update:
34th Annual Invitational Tournament was a success this year for several reasons. First, all the teams were evenly matched. All the games were won by no more than 2 goals. Second, the ticket sales were excellent. The money we raise in the tournament goes to reducing our overall cost of hockey but the tickets sold in the dressing rooms goes primarily to our donation to charity. Team #62 – Lead by Captain: Mike Kitchen won a Free Pub Night by selling 10 books of tickets. Third, we collected $56 off each player and after the entry fees were paid and a book of tickets for each team was paid for we had $60 left that has been given to the Year End Awards Night account.

Speaking about the awards night, this is a reminder that it is this week, Thursday March 25th. Please buy your tickets on Tuesday if you have not done so already. Ralph will be collecting the money off the captains Tuesday March 23rd so he can order the correct amount of food. There are approximately 10 awards being presented this week in several categories, you could be one. Pool Players welcome see Ralph for tickets.

Notes about next year:

Mike Kitchen and Bernie Porter are stepping down as captains, we wish to thank then for their support and hope that in a few years they offer up their services again. It is very important for all the members to help in any way they can as time permits. Many hands make light work as we saw during the 34th Annual Invitational Tournament, the gold division stepped up to help out behind the bar. Over 22 current and former Gold Division players took a shift or 2.

We are welcoming back Bill Swybrous and Terry Hancock(co captains), Steve Burford, Dave McNeaney, and Paul Binder. We are please to add Phil Davie and Tom Perris as captains next year.

Our Co-Convenor Gary Downer is stepping down this year and we are happy to announce that our first choice of Ken Layland has accepted the position. Our thanks to Gary for his help this year in keeping us on track.

Please remember to sign up as soon as possible for next year, don’t lose your sonority due to a late sign up. Seems that each year some people forget, even after we give some a call to remind them. Down load the form from the WEB or pick one up from the clubhouse. There is an advantage in signing up now to beat the GST that will be added to our fees for next year.
