BLACK WINS!!!

The division final was an exciting feisty battle between the Teal team led by Dave McNeaney and the Black team led by Mike Kitchen. The Teal team jumped into an early lead on a fine passing play from Rob Fijan to Karl Pilatzke. Karl was unguarded in front of the net and easily deposited the puck into the net. The Black team tied it up on a goal by Ken Russell after Teal coughed up the puck in the defensive zone. The pace of the game picked up substantially after that with the both teams having good chances to score. Both Don Cragg and Scott Cameron were outstanding making several key saves.
Finally Teal scored on the power play, thanks to a brilliant passing play from Rob Warren to Dave McNeaney, who found Karl Pilatzke in the slot. Karl redirected it past Cameron to regain the lead. Teal looked to be in control of the game until they ran into penalty trouble with four minutes to play in regular time. Neil Donaldson tied it up in a mad scramble. There were several whacks at the puck until it finally found its way behind Don Cragg. It looked like the game was heading into overtime until Eric McCarthy scored from the side of the net after another furious assault on the Teal net. That proved to be the winner in this fast paced game. Congratulations to both teams for earning their way to the championship game and playing so hard in the game. It was a lot of fun to watch.
Special congratulations to Neil Donaldson who was selected as MVP for the game!
