The latest rounds of trades have brought teams closer together, so much so that the Gold team has finally lost a couple of games. All games are close and as a result trades are done for the year, teams are now set and it will be up to the players on each team to determine how competitive their teams will be for the balance of the year. Good luck to all teams and remember these games are just practice games leading up to the play offs in early April.
The invitational tickets have been distributed to your captains. The proceeds of the ticket sales go towards trying to keep our annual registration fees at a reasonable rate for all members. Your captains have been told the team that sells the most books of tickets will get a free pub night, paid for by the league. If all teams in the division sell 10 books of tickets then every team in the Division will get a free pub night. Let’s see what we can do to help the league and ourselves. So far the Gold and Red teams are on pace to sell 10 books each.
The season is half way over and at the midpoint we want to acknowledge the following:
The Gold team, captained by Cliff Watling, has been in first place since the start of the season. They have scored the most goals and have given up the fewest goals of any team in the Division. They will be tough to beat, but the Teal team seems to have their number having beaten them in their last two matches.
Divisional play has been excellent, all games are close and we are averaging only 1.2 penalties per team per game. In addition, only one 10 minute misconduct penalty has been given out in over 180 regular league games. Keep up the clean play and remember the referees have been instructed to clamp down on the hooking and clutching penalties so if you get called for an infraction just go to the box and stop all of the complaining.
The top five scorers in the Division are as follows:
Brian Bishop team 53 with 28 points
Cliff Watling team 55 with 27 points
Rick Decoste team 56 with 26 points
Gord Buck team 55 with 25 points
Nick Mattiacci team 56 with 23 points
The Top three penalty leaders are as follows:
Jim Leroux team 53 with 12 penalties
Wade Russell team 51 with 9 penalties
John George team 51 with 7 penalties
Next year it looks like we will need 3 or 4 new captains, if anyone is interested in being a captain they can let me know by sending me an email at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or you can let your captain know that you might be interested.
Good Luck on the Ice
