Who would have thought that with a 35 point spread between first and last at the end of the Regular Season, coming into the final game of the Round Robin, the 5th place team had clinched a berth in the Final and there were four possible scenarios of four teams tying for second place in the Round Robin. You gotta love Oldtimers Hockey. When the dust did settle it was the Teal Timberwolves and Red Whiners playing for the Championship, with Rod Ireland and his Red Whiners defeating Dom Cecol and his Teal Timberwolves. Congratulations to the Whiners and to Graeme Millar who was named the game MVP.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Captain’s, John Bowers, Henry Vandersteen, Dom Cecol, Ted Johnston, Chris Hill and Rod Ireland for another outstanding year. Dom, Ted, Chris and Rod have elected to return to the regular rank and file at the end of this season. A special thanks to all of them for their years of commitment to BOHC and in particular Black Division. The returning Veteran Captain’s, John and Henry will be joined next season by Rookies, Greg Gillies, Jay Gubernay, Ken Smith and Keith Ellison. Thanks to all for stepping up to serve.
A note of thanks as well to my Co-Convener, Terry Redmond, and to Doug Weeks, our Pool Convener. It’s having guys like Terry and Doug that make my job pretty easy. As I mentioned in my previous blog all three of us have signed on for another year but will be actively looking for our replacements over the 2013/2014 season.
Our Pub/Awards Night was held on April 18 and was well attended as we dined on pork, chicken and Uncle Bruce’s ever popular JD Beans and had a few laughs thereafter. This year’s winner of the Keith “Red Pop” Mason Memorial awarded to the Black Division player who best exemplifies the spirit of Oldtimers hockey went to Greg Gillies. Congratulations Greg. Jake Smith won the 50/50 draw with the remaining proceeds being donated to the Carpenter Hospice. Other Awards Winners are as follows:

Have a safe and enjoyable Summer and we look forward to seeing you again on the ice in the Fall
