The BOHC is a 900+ member strong organization. You must be at least 35 years old
1. Full Time Players: 672 members with Club seniority are drafted into one of seven playing divisions of six teams each, based on playing ability… from the Red Division and its quicker skaters down to the Gold Division where the majority of the well-seasoned Old-timers play. Each full-time player has the opportunity to play 50 games per season - usually one of Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday nights, and almost every Sunday - and a championship game if your team gets lucky! Watch the championship games for each of the 7 Divisions on Cogeco Cable 23 each April.
2. Pool Players: Every new member wanting to play starts off in one of the divisional pools if there are no fulltime openings. Some members with playing seniority chose to stay in the pool because they cannot commit to the 50-game schedule due to work, personal, or family commitments through the week. Most pool players who wish to play full-time get that opportunity during their first or second seasons. There are typically 15 - 25 players, including goalies, in each divisional pool. Each division has a Pool Convener who is responsible for calling pool players to fill in for absentees. He keeps track of the calls/emails to ensure all pool players have equal opportunity to play.
3. Social Members: are just in it for the ‘Apres-hockey’... they enjoy the atmosphere and comradery at Hector’s Lounge and partake in our many social events such as the Ham & Turkey Roll, Golf Tournament, Lobster Boil, and Corn Roast, just to name a few.
4. Referees: Our referees are part of what makes the Club unique. All of our refs are Club members. Remember that out on the ice because you may well meet up with them at Hector’s.
5. Honorary Members: typically are spouses of deceased members who wish to stay involved in Club activities and members, recognized by the Board of Directors, as having been actively involved in Club activities.
6. Life Members: are not required to renew membership annually. These unique individuals are recognized by the Board of Directors as having made significant contributions to the BOHC over its existence. They have been insturmental in forming the BOHC we all enjoy today.
